Miriam Dunne

General Manager

A founder member of Waterford Spraoi, Miriam is based in Waterford and works as Programme Director with the award winning street arts and spectacle organisation. She is responsible for curating and programming the annual festival in August. As a result, she has over 30 years experience of the street art, circus and spectacle sector, both in programming and producing, and has established extensive international contacts in this sector.

Miriam also works with various organisations and festivals on a freelance basis, working as General Manager with the Cat Laughs Festival and Kilkenomics, both in Kilkenny. She has previously been contracted to programme and manage projects by Waterford City and County Council, Cork City Council, St Patricks Festival Dublin, Dublin Docklands Authority and Winterval Waterford. She began a career in arts working for Red Kettle Theatre Company, Waterford from its foundation in 1988 to 1993.

She undertakes strategic planning and consultancy work; clients have included Waterford City and County Council, the Irish Aerial Creation Centre and Fidget Feet. Miriam served as a member of the Board of the Arts Council of Ireland from 2014-2019, she was the first board member appointed to represent the street arts, circus and spectacle sector.

Currently she is vice Chair of ISACS, the Irish Street Arts, Circus and Spectacle Network, and is also a Board Member of The Walls Project, who deliver large scale public artwork nationally and also produce the Waterford Walls Festival annually.
